Hot Rod Power Tour Cruising Through Carthage June 12
Carthage will see an exciting influx of visitors as the Hot Rod Power Tour, known as the world’s largest rolling automotive festival, travels through the community on Friday, June 12, between approximately 8:30 a.m. and noon.
Featuring more than 5,000 vehicles, this multi-day event began in Joliet, Illinois, and will conclude June 12 at Tulsa Raceway Park, where final show hours are scheduled from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Participants will travel along Historic Route 66, entering Carthage via Highway 96 and continuing onto Central Avenue toward Joplin, which serves as an official pit stop for the tour during the 2026 World Street Painting Festival, featuring artists from around the globe.
While Carthage is not an official tour stop, the community is highlighted in the Day 5 Points of Interest curated by Hot Rod Power Tour organizers, showcasing several notable stops right here in Carthage for participants to explore along the route. With Carthage’s rich history, iconic Route 66 landmarks, and stunning architecture, many drivers are expected to slow down or stop to experience the community.
Residents and local businesses should be prepared for an increase in traffic and visitors throughout the morning hours, particularly along the Highway 96 and Central Avenue corridor. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time.
Spectators are encouraged to safely enjoy the rolling showcase of classic cars, muscle cars, and custom builds as they pass through town, offering a unique opportunity to witness this nationally recognized event firsthand.

Each installation offers a glimpse into the stories, architecture, and creative spirit that make our historic destination both timeless and vibrant. These works were created by talented artists who help shape Carthage’s distinctive character, thanks to the dedication of community leaders who brought this project to life.
As you journey from leaf to leaf, be sure to collect a sticker at each location and fill in the maple tree inside your passport—a memorable keepsake of your Carthage experience!
